Nov 07, 2022
Career coaches help professionals find jobs by providing career advice and guidance. Listen to this podcast episode and read the blog below to learn more about what they do, how they can help, and why you may need one!
Career coaching services can significantly improve job seekers' chances of finding employment. Some popular career coaching services include resume writing, interview preparation, strengths assessment and analysis, and LinkedIn coaching. As a career coach, I offer all the services above, and they can be booked or purchased straight from my website. However, many professionals are unaware of the benefits of working with a career coach, mainly because when professionals do book coaching services, they don't tend to communicate that to their friends and colleagues. It gives others no clue that they have worked with a coach to achieve their goals. I'd say that 90% of my clients are like that. So let's discuss the benefits and why professionals opt to work with career coaches when they are looking to achieve specific goals with their job hunting or career ambitions.
Benefits of Working with a Career Coach
There are many benefits to working with a career coach. One of the most significant advantages is that it saves time and money. You won't need to spend countless hours learning how to apply for a job, how to network, and how to present yourself during the recruitment and selection process. Instead, you will receive personalized assistance from an expert who has been through the process before and has successfully worked with other clients in the same situation.
How Much Does A Career Coach Cost?
There are different levels of career coaching services available, ranging from free to very expensive. For example, this blog and my podcast, The Job Hunting Podcast, are free resources. Then, I have services professionals that can be booked on my website, such as a private consultation with me, a short online course (Reset Your Career) that teaches how to apply for jobs and get ready for career transitions, and a LinkedIn service (LinkedIn Audit), that reviews a LinkedIn profile top to bottom and offers dozens of recommendations for improvement. For those services, you should expect to pay from AUD$97 to AUD$397. I also offer group and private coaching to support clients for an extended period, and those packages start at AUD$1997.
Why You Should Consider Working With A Career Coach
If you're looking for a new job, hiring a career coach can make the difference between getting hired and not being able to land a position. As a career coach, my goal is to bring a new job to my client as quickly as possible by reducing the learning curve in the job application and interview process, anticipating issues, and correcting errors along the way. This applies to job-hunting and when clients try to advance through promotions within their current company.
A good career coach goes beyond writing resumes and LinkedIn profiles or helping you answer behavioral questions at interviews. They know how to play to your strengths, identify weaknesses, and provide the kind of support and direction that can lead you to achieve some amazing things.
